As part of a large, multi-site development team, Au-Zone assisted our client with the full product development cycle of a satellite based real-time monitoring and communications system for use aboard commercial aircraft. The product was developed in accordance with DO-178B process guidelines to DAL D.
The system provides aircraft crew with reliable voice and data services using Iridium’s global satellite network. Data based services available through the product include automated OOOIs, flight following, engine trending, live-FOQA exceedance reporting, and fuel management. The platform has 2 Iridium channels. One transceiver provides global voice and data communications using standard Satcom cockpit controls from the Audio Control Panel and available MCDU dialing. The second modem provides redundant short burst data messaging should the voice channel be in use.
In collaboration with the client, responsible for creation of the development process (adhering to DO-178B/254), system architecture, embedded hardware design, and system software development of the aircraft based solution.
Mandated to adhere to DO-178B Design Assurance Level D for S/W development and DO-254 for portions of the H/W design.
